On behalf of the Executive Committee it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to this meeting and to present the 12th annual report and audited accounts of RRVRPOA for the financial year ended 31st March 2015.
We begin on a sad note. Our dear friend and steadfast support at all times Padma Shri NomitaChandy left us recently after a long illness borne with great courage. She was present here at the last meeting almost exactly a year ago. She came despite being unwell. I always called on her for advise and encouragement and I /we all will miss her sorely. I request all to rise in a minute of silence in memory of Nomita.
We have planted two saplings just by the CH in her memory and a plaque will be affixed in due course.
Accounts: The audited accounts were sent to you together with the notice of the meeting. We continue to have a very healthy financial situation. This is because of our prudent management and the continued cooperation of the members who pay their AMC dues.
You all know how costs are rising: labour costs and electricity have gone up very sharply in the past year. We will hold the AMC at Rs 8000 per annum for the years 2015/16 and 2016/ 17 but we will have to increase them thereafter.
The year in review: The waterproofing and roof repairs and tile replacement are complete and we are satisfied with the result. Atotal cost of Rs 14.56 lacs was met by Rs 9.90 lacs from the specially created corpus fund and the balance from reserves.
We were unable to proceed with the refurbishment plans for the CH. We will take it up this year. The detailed plans for the refurbished rooms are ready and we will start work as soon as possible. A sum of Rs6 lacs was approved by the AGM last year and we will continue to work within this budget. Given the fact that we try to do most work in-house, much depends on the. availability of the EC members to supervise the specific tasks.
We are also unable to present the standardised cottage plans. Here too, we will try and do so during the current year.
The entire estate has been surveyed with a view to rainwater harvesting and borwellre charging by experts from Water Literacy Foundation. A detailed plan has been suggested by them that we will take up in a phased manner in view of the high costs. We also plan to flushand desilt some of the exisiting bore wells and reboring them where needed. We also plan to identify one or two fresh borewell points.
Membership: We can be proud of our efforts in creating a unified group. We now need to make RRV a vibrant community and this cannot be done without greater commitment from its members. More homes need to come up and more people need to visit over the weekends. Above all, we need more people to help share the task of managing RRV.
I take this opportunity to thank the estate manager and all the staff as well as all my fellow members who served on the EC this year.
