ANNUAL REPORT 2012

Friends

On behalf of the Executive Committee it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to this meeting and to present the 9th annual report and the audited accounts of RRVRPOA for the financial year ended 31st March 2012.

Accounts:
Thanks to our prudent management we continue to have a surplus which is transferred to reserves and which will be used in due course for the maintenance and improvement of the infrastructure as and when the need arises.

Capital Expenditure and Current projects:
The re-fencing of the estate has continued during the current year. There is one more segment to be completed and this will be taken up immediately after the AGM. Our current plans include the refurbishment of the boat house into a weekend cottage for members. We are also planning to provide catering facilities at the Club House on weekends. We will be seeking the feedback of members on our proposals before implementing them. We also plan to up grade the facilities in the CH to encourage members to spend the weekend at RRV.

We regret we have not been unable to come up with plans for outsourcing the development of individual plots at a reasonable cost. The plans for the landscaping of the area around the CH will be taken up just prior to the monsoons.

Membership:
Our membership continues to grow and we welcome the following new members:

PlotName
23Mr Jagdish Shah
24Mr. Bhavesh Shah
25Mr.Manish Shah
40Mr Predeep Menon
74Com. George Kailath
75Dr. Suresh Joseph
120Mr G. Subramaniam
177Mr Janakar
262Mr Ashish Rajpal
287Mr A P C Thomas
288/89Mr Robert Lasrado
321Mr Kenneth D’Silva
271Dr. John David
363Mr. Ashok Koshy

Arrears:
The following members are in arrears for more than 5 years. It is a shame that while the majority of members pay their dues on time there are some who, despite all our efforts, prefer not to pay what is a very small amount which ensures the security and maintenance of their common property. We call on them to regularise their position immediately.
- Prakash Rao (USA)
- C Suppiah (Australia )

There are several plot holders who have still not joined the association. It is a crying shame that educated and well to do members expect to be subsidised by others. It is a form of violence against the rest of the plot holders. We urge all those who have not yet done so, to join the association. A community such as ours can only function effectively if we show mutual respect to and extend cooperation to the general body of members.

There are no excuses anymore for not joining the association and clearing the arrears of the AMC.

Legal Matters:
The copy of the judgement of the case brought against us is now available on the website in English and Tamil.

Looking Ahead:
We can continue to run RRV as we have been doing in the past or we can be bold and take initiatives that will unlock the potential that our asset so very clearly possesses. Our financial situation is now reasonably good. How do we move ahead?

What is certain is that unless there is more commitment from the members we cannot do anything. We hope that in the discussions at the AGM and over the next year we will have some clarity on this matter.

We would like to place on record our thanks to our staff under the leadership of our estate manager Mr. Rajan. The resources available, both material and human, are unequal to the task of maintaining and running RRV. We need more members to take an active interest in the running of RRV and we invite them to serve on the EC. We also need fresh ideas from members. Finally, I take this opportunity to thank all those who served on the EC this year.
